Client Centric Design

LCP Roofing utilises the ITS (International Truss Systems) software design program to quote and design its roofs. By it’s association with ITS is also a member of the ITC-SA (Institute for Timber Construction South Africa) and thereby subscribes to and fully complies with all the design, manufacturing and erection criteria as laid down by the ITC-SA.

LCP Roofing is also very proud to announce that in a very short time of operation the company has been awarded the SATAS (South African Technical Auditing Services) quality mark of approval. As of August 2011, this has ensured that LCP Roofing is one of only 5 Truss Plants in Gauteng that has been awarded either the SABS or SATAS Quality mark.

What makes the real difference?

  • Exceptionally accurate and speedy CNC cutting. Sizes, lengths and angles are consistently accurate and NO hand measuring takes places.
  • One of the best framing tables in South Africa utilising innovative jigs and marking capabilities.
  • A “One-of-Kind” hydraulic press in South Africa which assists in consistent pressures being applied to nail plates, fast and reliable production and trusses that are not moved and multiple handled until all nail plates are firmly and finally embedded.
  • An on-going quality system which is regularly re-assessed and updated.

Estimation and Design?

Our estimators and designers have over 32 years of combined experience and are constantly looking for more innovative and cost effective methods of design. Coupled with an intimate knowledge of residential and commercial construction, the management team at LCP Roofing will always be able to give you the best advice and design your roof according to your requirements.

LCP Roofing has embraced technological advancements in the nail plated truss industry and in April 2011 installed a CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) saw in our plant.

Together with the imported Hydraulic Birch Press which we installed in October 2011, we have created a manufacturing process which is not only SATAS and SABS approved, but also unrivaled in Southern Africa.

LCP Roofing has embraced technological advancements in the nail plated truss industry and in April 2011 installed a CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) saw in its plant. This has ensured that production capability has increased and quality control can be maintained.
Accurate CNC measuring and cutting means that timber in your roof truss exceeds the minimum requirements when it comes to dimensional accuracy.

The computerised SPIDA saw automates angle and length setups. The job is simply downloaded via LAN or floppy to the source computer and the angles and lengths are set to the precise measurements. Below is a demonstration of how the CNC saw is operated.

In its ongoing quest for consistency, quality and customer service the owners of LCP Roofing decided that further upgrades to the factory were necessary in order to achieve this aim.

The traditional method of truss fabrication in South Africa and by which more that 90% of plants operate is a framing table either on the floor or elevated for easier working. Nail Plates are then placed and hammered in by hand. Trusses are then flipped over and the operation is repeated. In a third operation the trusses are then fed through a special finishing roller which exerts up to 30 tons of force to fully embed the nail plates. This is a time consuming operation and triple handling and inconsistent quality issues can be a problem.

After a great deal of research and two visits to suppliers in the United Kingdom, LCP Roofing purchased and imported a Hydraulic Birch Press which arrived and was installed amidst much anticipation on the 6th October 2011.

LCP Roofing creates a “Truss Ticket” and this is stapled onto all main trusses. Not only does this indicate truss numbers, it also indicates the design loads, approximate spacings and job numbers. Furthermore all pertinent company information is available for future reference.
